The animated series Robotech was a huge influence on me as an 80s kid. Not only did it introduce me to anime, but I also loved the character and vehicle designs. In particular, I loved the Veritech’s guardian mode, with its fighter upper half, and mecha legs sticking out below. As a gamer, I also love the design of Blizzard’s D.Va and her mech from the game Overwatch, so I mashed these two properties together with stylistic influence from Konami’s Twinbee games, which feature similarly shaped ships.
